Department
of Computer Science held one-day workshop on “Software Testing and Career
Opportunities in IT Sector” in Kamarajar Auditorium in the College Campus on
March 18, 2024.
Mr. Mohamed Arshad, Systems
Engineer, TCS, Bengaluru was the Resource Person.
Mr. M. Sakthivel, HoD, Department of
Computer Science gave the welcome Address, Dr. G. Mohanasunder, Principal of DR. R. K. Shanmugam College of Arts & Science, Kallakurichi gave
the Presidential address and the Felicitation Address was given by Dr. P. John
Victor, Vice- Principal of DR. R. K. Shanmugam College of Arts
& Science, Kallakurichi.
The
morning session was about Software Testing. The guest gave a brief introduction
about testing and its types in a crystal clear manner. He also gave various
testing concepts used in IT sector with practical examples. Students really
enjoyed the session and gained the knowledge about the Software Testing.
The
afternoon session was about “Career Opportunities in IT Sector”. The Guest gave
a clear picture on how the fresher will be recruited in the IT companies and
what types of questions will be asked by the companies. Students interactively
raised their doubts with the guest and got clarified about it.
At
the end of the day, the Guest gave away the prize to the Department Students
who have won the General Quiz Competition – QUEST’24 and also District Level
Prizes for Drawing and Thirukkural competitions held for the Khelo India Youth
Games 2023. The Guest also handed over the appointment letter to final year UG
and PG students who are all recruited by the various companies held in our college
campus on Feb 2024.

Department
of Computer Science conducted QUEST 2024 during Feb – March 2024. Totally 10
teams from UG & PG have participated in the Quiz. Each team consists of
three members.

Computer
Science Department Staffs and Students went for Plant Sapling Program under the Village Adoption
Scheme in Thottiyam Village on Jan 19, 2024.
Department
Students along with the Head of the Department and Staffs planned for the
program. Last week, Department had conducted a rally in that village on Dengue
Awareness Program.
Principal
and Vice – Principal of DR. R.
K. Shanmugam College of Arts & Science graced the program with their
presence and also planted a sapling there.
Important
Heads of Thottiyam Panchayat Village and local people also participated in the
program.
DR.
R. K. Shanmugam College of Arts & Science celebrated its Pongal Festival
(Tamil Festival) in its unique way on Jan 12, 2024 in the College Campus.
From the beginning of the day, the
college campus went into function mode with students of both the gender came in
the ethnic wears.

Various events have conducted in the college campus for the students. For Girls, Rangoli & Musical Chair Competitions were held. For Boys, Tug of War (Rope Pulling) and Uriyadi Games were conducted. Students participated in the events enthusiastically.
After the Games, Musical Fest was held.
Students danced to their core and made the campus in different atmsosphere.
Chairman of the Institution, Dr. K.
Makudamudi, Secretary of the Institution, Dr. G. S. Kumar and Treasurer of the
Institution, Er. N. Govindharajalu graced the events by presenting themselves in
the campus and also took the group photo with the Staffs and workers.
At the end, Pongal was distributed to
all the students, staffs and workers in the Institution and greeted each other
with Pongal Wishes.

Our Department students have won first prize in two
events conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu ahead of Khelo India Youth
Games 2024 to be held in our state.

Games 2024 (6th edition of the Games) from Jan 19 – 31 in 4 different cities –
Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai & Trichy.
