Plant Sapling Event - Village Adoption Program

 

Computer Science Department Staffs and Students went for Plant Sapling Program under the Village Adoption Scheme in Thottiyam Village on Jan 19, 2024.

Department Students along with the Head of the Department and Staffs planned for the program. Last week, Department had conducted a rally in that village on Dengue Awareness Program.

Principal and Vice – Principal of DR. R. K. Shanmugam College of Arts & Science graced the program with their presence and also planted a sapling there.

Important Heads of Thottiyam Panchayat Village and local people also participated in the program.

Pongal Celebrations - 2024

 

DR. R. K. Shanmugam College of Arts & Science celebrated its Pongal Festival (Tamil Festival) in its unique way on Jan 12, 2024 in the College Campus.

From the beginning of the day, the college campus went into function mode with students of both the gender came in the ethnic wears.

Various events have conducted in the college campus for the students. For Girls, Rangoli & Musical Chair Competitions were held. For Boys, Tug of War (Rope Pulling) and Uriyadi Games were conducted. Students participated in the events enthusiastically.

After the Games, Musical Fest was held. Students danced to their core and made the campus in different atmsosphere.

Chairman of the Institution, Dr. K. Makudamudi, Secretary of the Institution, Dr. G. S. Kumar and Treasurer of the Institution, Er. N. Govindharajalu graced the events by presenting themselves in the campus and also took the group photo with the Staffs and workers.  

At the end, Pongal was distributed to all the students, staffs and workers in the Institution and greeted each other with Pongal Wishes.

Dept Students won Prize in KIYG 2024

 

 

Our Department students have won first prize in two events conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu ahead of Khelo India Youth Games 2024 to be held in our state.

S. Rajesh Kumar of II M. Sc., CS won First Prize in Drawing Competition held in Kallakurichi ahead of Khelo India Youth Games 2024 to be held in the State of Tamil Nadu.



S. Tamilselvan of III B. Sc., CS won First Prize in Thirukurral Recitation Competition held in Kallakurichi ahead of Khelo India Youth Games 2024 to be held in the State of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu to host Khelo India Youth Games 2024 (6th edition of the Games) from Jan 19 – 31 in 4 different cities – Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai & Trichy.

LIQUOR & DRUG ERADICATION AWARENESS RALLY

Tamil Nadu Government in collaboration with the District Administration of Kallakurichi held a Liquor and Drug Eradication Awareness Rally in Kallakurichi on Jan 10, 2024.

Students of DR. R. K. Shanmugam College of Arts and Science participated in this rally. Kallakurichi District Collector Mr. Sravan Kumar Javath, I.A.S. flagged off the rally from the Collectorate office.

The rally went through the Government Hospital Road, Gandhi Road, Bus Stand Signal, Durugram Road and ended in A.K.T. Educational Institutions.  Police officials and Department of Excise Duty officials also walked along with the students in the rally.

In the rally, Students raised slogans against the illicit liquor and drug eradication awareness. Students also distributed pamphlets to the people while went for the rally.

 

Kallakurichi District Collector Mr. Sravan Kumar Javath, I.A.S. flagged off the rally from the Collectorate office.

Village Adoption Program - Dengue Awareness Rally

 

VILLAGE ADOPTION PROGRAM

Objective:

Village Adoption Scheme is to equip and familiarize the people, with the socio- economic dimensions of the rural communities, status of sustainable use of natural resources, changing perceptions & aspirations, priorities and innovative effort of the rural communities for sustainable development and; enable/inspire the community for self-help to roll out strategies, methodologies, processes to develop sustainably and create cohesive communities where every individual gets equal opportunity to realize his/her potential. Through this process the people learn, document the ups and downs of the process which can help them in revising strategies for better training and come up with new models of rural development for replication elsewhere by all stakeholders.

Adopted Village: Thottiyam Village, Chinnasalem Tk, Kallakurichi Dt.

Event 1: Dengue Awareness Rally

Computer Science Department of DR. R. K. Shanmugam College of Arts & Science conducted the Dengue Awareness Rally under the “Village Adoption Program” on Jan 05, 2024.

Students along with the Staffs went for the rally in all the streets of the village raising slogans on “Dengue Awareness” and explaining to them how the Dengue is being spread and what are the precautions measures to be carried out. Students also said about the Myth & Facts that are being surrounded on Dengue.
